"It's time we begin to reimagine our ideal retirement because the three legged-stool is broken." J.L. Edwards
I watched three generations retire. My great-grandparents retired in poverty; my grandparents were poor as well. In fact, my grandmother's monthly retirement benefit was less than $100 a month. My mom learned the lessons from previous generations and set out to educate herself about real estate, investments, and estate planning. I’m taking it a step further by sharing the personal and professional lessons I’ve learned over my 30+ years in the field. No one should have to retire in poverty. Everyone deserves a retirement that gives them freedom and security. I’m here to help you lay the groundwork. Let’s make a plan!
My career in the employee benefits and retirement field spans over 30 years. Originally from Brooklyn NY, I started my career at New York Life Insurance Company working as a clerk in the human resources and payroll departments. After leaving New York Life, I went to manage the employee benefits team at Shenkers International, a freight forwarding firm.
Since landing in DC, I’ve worked for Discovery Communications, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and the American Council on Education (ACE). My career experiences have afforded me the opportunity to design and price benefit plans, write summary plan descriptions, develop communications strategies and manage large scale conversion projects.
Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of assisting employees with planning for their retirement, providing guidance to members of the human resources community and received 2 Excellence in Government Finance Awards from the Government Financial Officers’ Association (GFOA).
I welcome the opportunity to share my expertise with you.
